My bud Lorenzo has been overly busy planning his nuptials, hence a disconcerting lack of blogging recently from him. Said wedding was today and it was brilliant.
Not only was it the first time I've been to a wedding where the groom played in his bride-to-be on the piano, but I doubt I'll ever go to another wedding where the band will play a Metallica song while the happy couple are signing the register. Well if you're going to rock, you've gotta rock properly!

Rejecting others
To be fair, we knew it wouldn't get on the intranet, but as the editor who commissioned the piece only to have it cruelly knocked back by 'Standards' (aka my boss, but it sounded much more Studio 60 to say 'standards'), I'm glad Lorenzo has posted his excellent 19th Century Marriage spoof on his blog. Read it and giggle.

Guardian of good taste
At work today Matt the designer complained because even though he had thousands of songs on his iTunes account, he couldn't find one he wanted to listen to. I offered to send him one, at which point he resoundly mocked my musical taste based on my liking the Scissor Sisters (as he has done before). This from a man who admits to having a Hanson album on his iTunes. When, I asked, were they ever cool?
Anyway, having shut him up with that, I sent him the song. And a couple of hours later discovered he'd posted it on his blog as "the best love song i've ever heard"*. Not only did he not credit me, but he surreptitiously posted it in work time too. Dodgy geezer. Still it makes a change for Matt to be thieving blog material off me because usually it's Lorenzo who does that.
And what was the song? Well, it's called Your Personal Penguin. It's the song of a book by cartoon genius Sandra Boynton which I bought for Cath in America, sung by Davy Jones of Monkees fame. Listen to/download it here!
*pedants like Tez be aware this is a direct quote, hence the lower case I

November must be the month of love (but now its gone)
A couple of my longstanding single friends have hooked up in the past few weeks, although neither have been shouting it from the rooftops. Firstly Mark informed me that he was "with woman" when he rang up about something completely unrelated. Then I had to read Lorenzo's blog to find out he'd pulled successfully too.
Lorenzo's first date - trip to the cinema - is similar to mine and Cath's a dozen Novembers ago (yes, it's been like that). But whereas Lorenzo took his date to see the new critically acclaimed Bond movie, I went with Cath to see, wait for it... Airheads!

Happy Birthday Lorenzo
A big Pantperthog happy birthday to Lorenzo, who is the grand old age of 26 today. He doesn't look a day over 40!
Incidentally, Lorenzo's blog is quite worth a look because he's a witty chap. Even if he did THIEVE THE LINK I PUT ON HERE TO FUNNY RECORD COVERS and then not even credit me! Cheeky bugger!
