Frankly a bargain

Browsing the shelves of an Oxfam shop and I idly pulled out this single, not clocking the artist or title until I looked at the cover. An early Frank Turner EP, with what looks like a signature in sharpie? For 99p? Yep. Gonna buy that.

I know that people who are younger than me laugh at my love of physical media, but, honestly, if you just streamed this you wouldn't be able to read Frank's rage-filled sweary promise to the scumbag who stole his guitar.

And for an added bonus, the photo of (very young) Frank from 19 years ago was taken in Cardiff. I'm pretty good on my Cardiffology, but I have no idea where that silhouette background is. 

I wonder if Frank ever caught up with the guitar thief.

Unexpected appearance by Joe Hart

Flicking through some old games that had been donated in a charity shop, I saw several copies of FIFA football from different years. 

I didn't know - or had forgotten - that 12 years ago Joe Hart had been a FIFA cover star. 

Alongside Lionel Messi, no less.

It wasn't enough to get me to buy the game, especially as it was for a console I don't have in the crate of obsolete consoles. (Although if it had been super-cheap I might have got it just for the cover.)

It amuses me when random books get put next to each other and seem to contradict...

I spotted these two in a charity shop and it made me smile.

It's vaguely hopeful. However shit your life has been so far, tomorrow will be a good day. 

Well, maybe.

Face Man to the rescue

A few years ago I met the actor Dirk Benedict, aka Face Man in one of my favourite TV shows growing up, the A-Team.

But anyway, I have started a new job and very close to my office is a charity shop that has a regular turnover of toys. I've bought some Matchbox trains and a big bag of Duplo. Yesterday I went in to have a look and see what they had in and there was a vintage 1980s 5" action figure of Face Man.

Well I duly gave a pound to charity and took Face away. He fits nicely on the little ledge next to my desk (now that I actually have a desk) and will keep me company. He seems very happy to be my new buddy.
